Abstract:
The session will highlight the Academy’s priorities in clinical document development and will focus on the update of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and hearing aids systematic review (SR). The 2007 SR concluded that amplification increased HRQoL and reported outcomes for analog or digitally programmable hearing aids in studies with considerable bias. Since then, hearing aids are digital, and their benefits have been rigorously assessed in several new areas of health functioning (e.g., cognitive function, balance, mental health). We will present the protocol for the current SR assessing the HRQoL benefits of amplification.
