With the FDA establishment of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids as a regulatory category, a proliferation of devices have become available directly to consumers. GN has created a product for this new marketplace with a sub-category known as “Lifestyle hearing”. Jabra Enhance Plus is an additive product within the OTC realm by resembling earbuds, having the ability to be self-fitted via smartphone, while providing hearing assistance along with streaming of calls and music. In-house trials conducted found significant benefit and satisfaction for both the earbud and app performance. Results will be discussed along with general issues regarding OTC hearing aids.
