Abstract:
Community pharmacists are now contributing to hearing healthcare via OTC hearing aids. In this session, attendees will hear pharmacist perspectives on OTC hearing aids and the profession of pharmacy’s approach to patient care. Presenters will report on results of a national survey probing pharmacists’ awareness, interest, and readiness for OTC hearing aids. Practical suggestions for collaborating with pharmacists will be presented, within the context of increased access to hearing health care and increased referrals for audiologists.

Describe pharmacists’ awareness, interest, and readiness for OTC hearing aids.
Explain how OTC hearing aids fit within the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process.
Explore collaborative working relationships with pharmacists to increase patient access to hearing healthcare.
