Abstract:
We will be looking at two cases one adult and one pediatric patient who both have branchio-oto-renal syndrome but different types of hearing. These cases actually involve a mother and daughter.

Summary:
During this presentation I will present two cases one pediatric patient and one adult patient. They both have branchio-oto-renal syndrome which runs on moms side of the family. The main take away from this will be to learn not to expect the same type and degree of hearing loss in patients that have the same genetic syndrome.

  • identify different types and degrees of hearing loss associated with branchio-oto-renal syndrome.
  • List the different gene mutations which result in branchio-oto-renal syndrome.
