Cervical VEMP (cVEMP) and ocular VEMP (oVEMP) have emerged as the go-to tests of otolith organ function. These efficient tests allow evaluation of the saccule and utricle and their associated neural pathways, as well as provide important complementary information to help with the diagnosis of disorders affecting the vestibular system such as superior canal dehiscence. This course will provide the attendee with a practical understanding of VEMP testing, advantages and disadvantages of each, methodology, common pitfalls, and interpretation of results. Case studies will be used and a practical, hands-on portion will allow attendees to record these responses during the class.

Learning Objectives:

1. List the generator sites of the cervical VEMP and the ocular VEMP.
2. Describe techniques to improve acquisition of VEMP responses.
3. Interpret VEMP response characteristics to aid differential diagnosis.
