New advances in the assessment of hearing function in infants will be covered, along with practical and efficient ways that natural sleep protocols for assessment can be optimized.  Applications of new research in wideband immittance for diagnosis of middle ear problems, distortion product otoacoustic emissions, chirp-evoked auditory steady state, and auditory brainstem responses will be discussed.  Interesting and challenging cases using each of these techniques will be covered with small group discussion and hands-on interpretation practice with equipment including Wideband Tympanometry, DPOAEs, and ABR. Tips to obtain quality recordings in special environments will be discussed, including the operating room, NICU and preterm infants.

  • 3. Outline an efficient, effective, evidence-based protocol for natural sleep assessment
