Michelle R. Molis, PhD, is a Research Investigator the VA RR&D National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR) at the VA Portland Health Care System in Portland, Oregon and holds an appointment in the Department of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. Her research focuses on speech perception by people with hearing loss as well as normal-hearing individuals. Her research approach combines top-down concepts (phonology/categorization, language, working memory, attention) with bottom-up concepts (audibility, psychoacoustics, acoustic/auditory phonetics) to examine the speech communication difficulties experienced by individuals with impaired hearing and to improve speech understanding across a range of ages and hearing abilities.
