I am Emily Gallagher, MD, MPH, Associate Professor at University of Washington, and attending pediatrician at Seattle Children’s Hospital. I am fellowship trained in Craniofacial Medicine and provide care for children with craniofacial differences. I also direct the 22q Clinic at Seattle Children’s. For 10 years, I have served as the pediatrician on the Advisory Board for the State of Washington’s EHDI program (Early Hearing Detection and Intervention). In addition to supporting newborn hearing screening in the US, I am working on projects to improve access to universal newborn hearing screening programs and ear and hearing care for children in low- and middle-income countries through TUNE: Towards Universal Newborn and Early Childhood Hearing Screening. We have been testing low-cost technology for OAEs and middle ear fluid detection and working with the Ministry of Health in Kenya to develop a national strategy for Ear and Hearing Care.
