Qingwen Dong is a professor and the director of the graduate program in Department of Communication at University of the Pacific. He was a recipient of the university’s highest teaching and research honor, the Award for Eberhardt Teacher/Scholar; its highest honor for scholarship, the Award for Faculty Research Lecturer; and its highest honor for service, the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring.
In 2017, he was the recipient of the Champion of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award at Pacific. He has been teaching intercultural communication and research methods courses for the past 25 years at Pacific and his research interests include socialization effects through various communication channels with a focus on cross cultural contexts. He has published more than 50 journal articles and book chapters in communication. His intercultural communication publications include “Overcoming ethnocentrism through developing intercultural communication sensitivity and multiculturalism” and “The Impact of bicultural identity on immigrant socialization through television viewing in the United States,” both published in journal of Intercultural Communication Studies.
He served as Provost Faculty Fellow in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. He currently serves as the co-chair of University Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Pacific.
