Dr Hickson is Associate Dean (External Engagement) of the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences and Professor of Audiology at The University of Queensland, Australia. She is current President of the International Society of Audiology and is recognized internationally as a leader in the field. Her major research themes are the effects of hearing impairment on the communication abilities and quality of life of adults and family members, and the efficacy of different forms of interventions. Dr Hickson has over 280 publications including 5 books and is committed to the transfer of knowledge into practice. She is an Editor of the International Journal of Audiology, Fellow of the International Collegium of Rehabilitative Audiology and a Fellow and past President of Audiology Australia. Dr Hickson is also Chair of the Ida Institute Advisory Board and Leader of the Phonak Family-Centered Hearing Care Expert Circle.
