Broadly, Dr. Coco’s research interests are Latino hearing health; hearing loss and aging; community-engaged research; and health services, including service delivery models (e.g., telehealth). More specifically, Dr. Coco’s research focuses on identifying disparities in the delivery of hearing healthcare services and developing strategies to improve access to, and equity of, audiology care for marginalized populations. Her specialty is using a Community Based Participatory Research approach to engage community members, including Community Health Workers, in co-developing culturally relevant interventions, and leveraging technology, including telehealth, to address access barriers. She uses both quantitative and qualitative assessment to gain an understanding of disparities, barriers in access, and how care is delivered, as well as intervention outcomes that help inform the implementation of interventions and service delivery models.
