Melanie Buhr-Lawler, Au.D., is an audiologist and clinical professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has 20 years of experience in the areas of cochlear implants, hearing aids, and audiologic evaluations for individuals of all ages. Dr. Buhr-Lawler has special interests in hearing loss prevention and in hearing healthcare for medically underserved communities. She is engaged in clinical outreach, including hearing conservation at concert venues, presenting to community groups through UW Madison’s Badger Talks, and clinics for the Amish and Mennonite communities. Dr. Buhr-Lawler coordinates the hearing conservation program for UW Madison employees, the hearing screenings for all children in Dane County’s Head Start program, and the UW Madison Hearing Aid Recycling Program (HARP), which provides hearing healthcare to individuals who cannot afford it. Dr. Buhr-Lawler is the recipient of the 2015 Wisconsin Audiologist of the Year award and the 2019 Student Mentor Award from the Wisconsin Speech-Language Hearing Association.
